Mercedes AMG GmbH Inspires Design
AMG GmbH is a performance tuner based in Affalterbach south Germany. Mercedes Benz has a relationship established with AMG to provide high performance versions of Mercedes Benz vehicles. Mercedes-AMG GmbH, which is the venture between AMG and Mercedes Benz, specializes in unique, high-performance Mercedes Benz vehicles; including for street and racetrack use. Most Mercedes Benz models are available in AMG forms including SUVs, coupés, cabriolets, and roadsters.
Revolutionary Design & Performance Upgrades
Mercedes-AMG has overall responsibility for developing the design, aerodynamics, interior as well as the powertrain, engine, suspension, brakes and electronics – right up to granting final approval for production of the complete AMG vehicle. Mercedes-AMG GmbH engineers first upgrade the suspension including axles, brakes and dampers; secondly to the complete drivetrain including transmission and engine; and thirdly to body modifications such as increasing its stiffness and enhancing aerodynamics.
Top AMG Models
The “55” Mercedes-AMG GmbH nomenclature is used to identify a naturally aspirated5.5 liter V8 engine used in many Mercedes Benz-AMG vehicles.
The “63” nomenclature is used to identify the 6.2 liter V8 engine.
AMG developed its own V8 engine (dubbed M156 in development). This naturally aspirated V8 will also be used to replace most of the “55” models. The published output according to Mercedes varies from 457 PS (336 kW; 451 hp) on the C63AMG, to 525 PS (386 kW; 518 hp) on the C/CLK/R/ML/GL/S/SL/CL/E 63 AMG.
