Study Shows Mercedes-Benz has Lowest Recall Rate

Less Recalls for Mercedes Service Experts in Austin

With all the vehicle recalls of late, it’s understandable for drivers to be concerned. But Mercedes-Benz owners can rest easy knowing that their manufacturer has the least amount of recalls in the U.S. That was the finding of a long-term study from iSeeCars.

H2 Tag: Details from the iSeeCars Recall Study

The iSeeCars study released earlier this year looked at 30 years of NHTSA recalls to gain a better understanding of which automakers have higher quality manufacturing processes, better quality control and greater levels of caution. In total the industry research firm looked at 15 automakers that operate within the U.S. market. The automakers included in the study are in order from the least to most recalls:

  • Mercedes-Benz – 41 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Mazda Motor Corp – 55 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • General Motors Co. – 65 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Nissan Motor Corp – 71 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Subaru – 73 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Kia Motor Corp – 77 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Toyota Motor Corp. – 80 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • BMW – 90 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Ford Motor Company – 93 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Honda – 94 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Chrysler – 100 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Volvo – 105 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Volkswagon – 106 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold Mitsubishi Motors Corp. – 109 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold
  • Hyundai Motor Co. – 115 vehicles recalled for every 100 sold

The data included recalls from 1985 to 2014 for cars that were sold between 1980 and 2013. It’s important to note that the same vehicle can be recalled more than once, which is why some manufacturers have a rate above 100. Manufacturers can be known for safety and reliability but still have a high recall rate because of this factor. It’s also worth noting that some recalls are unrelated to the safety of the vehicle and its operability.

Austin Mercedes-Benz maintenance needs can be affected by numerous factors like the heat that is experienced during the long summers, however recalls happen at a manufacturing level. That’s why it’s important to keep up-to-date on recalls even if you stay on top of your proper maintenance schedule.
